It began as local history, which is a subject so broad it is not one. Reading back, almost everything is about who controlled land and how that was decided.

What I thought it was

Local history: buildings, families, and events. That framing produced the four issues I now think are the weakest.

What it actually is

Land tenure and the decisions that shaped it. Enclosure, drainage, and the estate, which is where all the interesting evidence is.

What changes

The framing rather than the content. Pieces that do not fit will still appear when they are good, and there will be fewer of them.
