Reading

Four recommendations and one book I stopped at page ninety

Recommendation lists never include the things that did not work, which makes them much less useful. One abandonment is included with the reason.

The four

Two local histories, one novel, and a technical monograph on drainage that is far more interesting than that sounds.

The one I stopped

A well-reviewed book on rural decline that turned out to be an argument in search of evidence. Ninety pages and three unsupported claims.

Where to get them

Three are in the library and the fourth is out of print but on the archive site. Nothing here is bought through a link that pays me.
