Shared kiln

Four pounds a shelf, and everybody unloads their own

Shared kilns fail when unloading falls to one person. Everybody unloads their own work within three days, and that single rule is what keeps it working.

The cost

Four pounds a shelf for a bisque firing and six for a glaze. That is electricity plus a contribution to elements, which fail about every three years.

The rules

Unload within three days, never fire anybody else's work, and no unknown glazes. The third one has cost us one kiln shelf already.

Access

A key held by six people and a booking sheet on the door. Firings usually go on Wednesdays and Sundays.
