Seed library

Returning seed is entirely optional and about a third of people do

Seed libraries that require returns collect very little and put people off. Making it optional produced more returned seed, not less, which surprised everybody.

How it works

A drawer in the library with envelopes. Take what you want, write what you took on the sheet if you remember, and that is all.

Returning

Optional. If you save seed and want to bring some back, there is a box. About a third of borrowers do and that keeps it stocked.

What is there

Mostly beans, tomatoes, and flowers. Nothing from an F1 hybrid, because it will not come true and that disappoints people.
