Community composting

Compostable plastic does not break down in any garden heap

Certified compostable packaging needs industrial conditions of about sixty degrees for weeks. In a community heap it is simply plastic, and it ruins the batch.

What we take

Uncooked vegetable waste, cardboard, garden waste, and coffee grounds. That is the whole list and it is on the bin lid.

What we cannot take

Compostable plastics, cooked food, meat, and anything with a coating. The first is the one people get wrong in good faith.

What we produce

About four tonnes a year, free to anybody in the village, available from the bay in March and October.

We write four times a year. You can leave the list at the foot of this message.
