A change

Advertising from March, which is a compromise rather than a plan

Reader support covers about sixty percent of costs and has been flat for two years. Advertising covers the rest and I am not pretending to be pleased about it.

What it will look like

One block, clearly marked, at the foot. No tracking, no personalisation, and nothing that follows anybody anywhere.

What it will not include

Anybody with an active planning application, anybody I am likely to write about, and anything I would not use myself.

The alternative

A paywall, which I like less, or stopping. Those were the three options and this seemed the least bad.

See the advertising policySupport instead
If reader support ever covers the full cost the advertising goes. That is a commitment rather than an aspiration.
