No comments, because letters are better and I can answer them

Comment sections on small publications are either empty or unpleasant. Letters are slower, better argued, and I have answered every one for four years.

Why not

Because moderating them properly takes time I would rather spend writing, and moderating them badly is worse than not having them.

What instead

Letters, by reply. About forty a year, all answered, and the best of them get printed in full with permission.

What that loses

Readers talking to each other, which is a genuine loss. If somebody wants to set up somewhere for that I will link to it.
