Nine thousand words, and there is a three-part version if that is easier
What it is about
The 1953 flood, from the twelve surviving first-hand accounts and the engineering report that was not published until 1971.
Why so long
Because the short version has been written many times and is wrong. The length is the argument rather than an indulgence.
How to read it
In one sitting of about forty minutes, or in three parts sent over three weeks. Both go to whoever asks for them.
