Poetry evening
About half the room comes only to listen, every time
Open floor nights can feel as though everybody is expected to perform. About half never do, come every month, and nobody thinks anything of it.
The format
An invited reader for twenty minutes, then an open floor of five-minute slots, then the bar. Out by half past ten.
Reading
Sign up at the door if you want to. Slots are drawn at random so nobody has to volunteer to go first.
Listening
Entirely sufficient. Nobody counts who reads and nobody will ask you why you did not.
