Conversation group

No teacher, no levels, and nobody corrects your grammar

Formal classes have waiting lists and levels. This is eleven people drinking tea in English at whatever speed suits whoever is talking.

What happens

Ninety minutes of conversation over tea. Volunteers who speak English as a first language sit at each table and mostly listen.

What it is not

A class. Nobody teaches grammar, nobody corrects anybody unless asked, and there is no level to be placed in.

Children

Welcome, and there are toys in the corner. The lack of childcare is the commonest reason people cannot attend formal classes.
