Homework club

A quiet table, a plug socket, and an adult who can be asked

Most of what young people need is not teaching. It is a warm quiet place with a table, a socket, and somebody to ask when they get stuck.

What it is

Two hours in the library back room. Tables, sockets, wifi, and two volunteers who will help if asked and otherwise leave people alone.

What it is not

Tutoring. Nobody teaches a curriculum and nobody checks anybody's work. It is a place to work rather than a class.

Who comes

About fourteen young people, mostly from homes without a quiet room or reliable internet. That is the actual gap it fills.
