Maintenance guide

One drop per link, wiped off after a minute

A wet, shiny chain is a chain collecting grinding paste. The oil that matters is inside the rollers and everything on the outside is doing harm.

Clean first

Wipe the chain with a rag while backpedalling until the rag comes away grey rather than black. Degreaser is rarely necessary.

One drop each

A single drop on each roller, turning the pedals slowly. It takes about ninety seconds for a whole chain.

Wipe it off

Wait a minute, then wipe the outside completely dry. The chain should look almost clean. Everything you wipe off would have collected grit.
