### No fines, no powers, and traffic speeds still drop

Volunteers record speeds and the police send letters. It has no enforcement power at all and measured speeds on Church Street have fallen since it started.

#### What we do

Two-hour sessions with a hand-held device, in hi-vis, at approved locations. Registrations of speeding vehicles go to the police.

#### What happens then

A letter from the police for a first offence and a second letter after that. No fines and no points at any stage.

#### Why it works

Visibility. Traffic slows for the sessions and, measurably, stays slower for weeks afterwards. That effect is why volunteers keep doing it.
