An appeal

### Three of the most useful documents here were nearly thrown away

House clearances destroy more local history than anything else. An estate map, a wage book, and forty photographs all came from somebody looking in a box first.

#### What is worth keeping

Anything with a date, anything with names, and anything a solicitor sent. Deeds, wage books, diaries, and photographs of buildings rather than people.

#### What happens to it

Photographed and returned within a fortnight, or deposited at the record office in your name if you would rather not keep it.

#### What it costs you

Nothing, and no obligation. Several people have shown me something and then decided to keep it private, which is entirely their right.
