Guide

### It is forty thin applications, not four thick ones

Every failed French polish was applied too heavily. The finish is built from an absurd number of very thin passes and there is no shortcut at all.

#### The rubber

Wadding inside a cotton cloth, charged until damp rather than wet. If it leaves a wet trail, it is far too loaded.

#### The passes

Continuous figure-of-eight motion, never stopping on the surface. Stopping leaves a mark that has to be polished out again.

#### The timescale

Three or four sessions over as many days, with the surface left to harden between. Attempting it in one afternoon does not work.
