In memory

### She answered forty-one of my questions and corrected six of my mistakes

Margaret read this letter from the first issue and wrote back to most of them. About a fifth of what I have ever published came from something she told me.

#### What she knew

The village between 1948 and about 1975, in a detail that no record holds. Who lived where, what they did, and why the lane bends.

#### What she gave

Forty-one answers, six corrections, and an afternoon a month for four years. She was recorded eleven times and those recordings are in the archive.

#### What happens now

The recordings stay available and her corrections stay in the pieces they corrected, attributed. That was her condition and it was a good one.
