About you

### Mostly not local, mostly not historians, and mostly over sixty

I imagined writing for the village. From the letters, most readers are elsewhere, most are not historians, and a good number have never been here at all.

#### Where you are

About a sixth live here. The rest are scattered, and eleven are abroad. Four have family connections and the rest simply found it.

#### Who you are

Almost nobody is a historian. There are three archivists, two farmers, a hydrologist, and a great many people with no professional interest at all.

#### What that changes

Nothing about the subject, and quite a lot about the assumptions. I have stopped assuming anybody knows where anything is.
